Type of kit:  necklace
Max length:  approximately 27"
Techniques:  beaded kumihimo (all levels)

The Belle of the Ball kit includes

  • detailed written instructions
  • size 8 Japanese seed beads
  • size 11 Japanese seed beads
  • TierraCast spacer beads
  • Unicorne focal beads
  • 4mm Czech fire polished beads
  • micro Superlon braiding cord
  • size 18 Superlon braiding cord
  • big-eye needle
  • TierraCast 8mm endcaps
  • TierraCast magnetic clasp with jump rings
  • binding thread
  • E6000 glue
(Due to supply shortages we send one spool of binding thread and one tube of glue per order, rather than one per kit. If you're giving the kits as gifts and need extra binding thread and glue, just let us know and we'll include it.)

Tools needed to assemble the project (not included)

  • foam kumihimo disk
  • 8 weighted bobbins (~23g each)
  • clip-on center weight (~45g)
  • jewelry pliers
  • scissors
  • hemostat (optional)

Each Unicorne focal bead is a miniature work of art: layers of swirling glass are topped with metallic flashes of dichroic and sprinkled with tiny spheres of metal and then encased in a final layer of clear glass. In the Belle of the Ball necklace these beautiful Unicorne focal beads are supported by sparkly fire polished beads in the front and a more understated sprinkling of accent beads on the sides.

Belle of the Ball is a kumihimo kit for all levels. Previous experience with the basic round braid (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is helpful, but not required. If this is your very first beaded kumihimo project, please review our Beaded Kumihimo Starter Guide and Understanding the Braid before beginning your necklace.
