The Enduring Ties kumihimo necklace kit is a beginner project. Even the beaded tassels! I know it looks intricate, but it's actually a very simple thread path to form the beaded beads. Of course, the kit instructions spell out everything in great detail. Previous experience with the basic round braid (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is helpful, but not required. If this is your very first beaded kumihimo project, please review our Beaded Kumihimo Starter Guide before beginning your necklace.
Techniques used: kumihimo and bead stitching
Max length: up to 49" long end-to-end including the tassel. When knotted, a 49" necklace wears like a 25" or 26" necklace depending on how you place the knot. My sample necklace is 41" long and wears like an 18" or 19" necklace depending on knot placement.
The Enduring Ties kit includes detailed printed instructions, big-eye needle, size 18 Superlon, One-G bead stitching thread, size 8 Japanese seed beads, Czech glass beads, TierraCast 8mm endcaps, TierraCast magnetic clasp, TierraCast jump rings, binding thread, and E6000 glue.
You’ll need the following tools (not included) to complete the project: foam kumihimo disk (regular 1/2″ thickness), 8 weighted bobbins (~23g each), clip-on center weight (~45g), scissors, and jewelry pliers.
