The Fanfare is a study in balance: the colors, the proportions, the lines all work together to create a design that is both understated and fun. The Fanfare features a hand-knotted tassel pendant, double-strand kumihimo braids, peyote stitch accent bands, and stylish endcaps with coordinating double-strand magnetic clasp.
Fanfare is a kumihimo kit for all levels. Previous experience with the basic round braid (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is helpful, but not required. If this is your very first beaded kumihimo project, please review our Beaded Kumihimo Starter Guide before beginning your necklace.
The Fanfare kit includes: detailed step-by-step written instructions, hand-knotted cotton tassel pendant, big-eye needle, size 18 Superlon, beading thread, Japanese seed beads, Delica beads, TierraCast endcaps, TierraCast magnetic clasp, TierraCast jump rings, binding thread, and E6000. The kit makes one necklace up to 23″ long.
Techniques used: kumihimo and peyote stitch
You’ll need the following tools (not included) to complete the project: foam kumihimo disk (regular 1/2″ thickness), 8 weighted bobbins (~23g each), clip-on center weight (~45g), scissors, and jewelry pliers.
