The Fiesta necklace features three strands of subtly graduated pre-beaded chain attached to a simple kumihimo beaded rope with magnetic endcaps hidden under peyote stitch endcap covers.
Fiesta is a kumihimo kit for all levels. Previous experience with the basic round braid (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is helpful, but not required. If this is your very first beaded kumihimo project, please review our Beaded Kumihimo Starter Guide before beginning your necklace. As for the chain focal area, it's pre-beaded. You'll learn how easy it is to get the look of elaborate beaded chain without opening any jump rings! You just need basic jewelry making skills, like cutting wire.
The Fiesta kit includes: detailed step-by-step written instructions, pre-beaded chain, Japanese seed beads, big-eye needle, size 18 Superlon, beading thread, stainless steel magnetic endcaps, Delica beads, binding thread, and E6000. This is a great style to wear long. Each Fiesta kit has enough materials to make a necklace up to 30" long. Of course, you can go as short as you'd like.
Techniques used: kumihimo (all levels) , peyote stitch (beginner) , and basic jewelry making (beginner)
You’ll need the following tools (not included) to complete the project: foam kumihimo disk (regular 1/2″ thickness), 8 weighted bobbins (~23g each), clip-on center weight (~45g), scissors, wire cutters, and jewelry pliers.
