The Infinite Waves necklace beautifully magnifies the natural spiral structure of kongoh gumi by pairing large 6mm stone beads with tiny size 11 demi beads. The tiny beads tighten the spiral and (with help from the core) support the larger stones. A stunning hand-cast floral motif focal clasp is the finishing touch on this exquisite necklace.
Infinite Waves is an intermediate kumihimo kit. Previous experience with beaded kumihimo (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is required.
Techniques used: intermediate kumihimo
- braiding around a flexible core
- dropping multiple beads at once
The Infinite Waves kit includes detailed printed instructions, big-eye needle, Superlon micro, 6mm stone beads, Japanese seed beads, hand-cast bronze 6mm endcaps, hand-cast bronze flower clasp, TierraCast jump rings, binding thread, and E6000 glue. You have enough materials to make one necklace up to 25" long that will fit a 23" neck.
You’ll need the following tools (not included) to complete the project: foam kumihimo disk (regular 1/2″ thickness), 8 weighted bobbins (~23g each), clip-on center weight (~45g), scissors, and jewelry pliers.
