We are now taking pre-orders for a very limited number of Opening Night kits.  Opening Night will ship out on or before October 8th.  Please have this pre-order kit be the only item in your order.  If you mix pre-order and in-stock items, everything will ship together when the pre-order is ready.

Type of kit:  bracelet
Max finished length:  approximately 9" (fits 8" wrist)
Techniques: beaded kumihimo with counted pattern (all levels), bead stitching (beginner) and peyote stitch (beginner)

The Opening Night kit includes

  • detailed written instructions with stringing charts for three bracelet sizes:  ~7" (fits 6" wrist), ~8" (fits 7" wrist) , and ~9" (fits 8" wrist).
  • detailed written instructions for making peyote stitch endcap covers
  • Superlon braiding cord
  • size 8 Japanese seed beads
  • size 11 Japanese seed beads
  • size 6 Toho Demi beads
  • 3mm, 4mm, 6mm, 8mm Czech glass fire polished beads
  • size 11 Delica beads
  • big-eye needle
  • 8mm stainless steel magnetic endcaps
  • One-G beading thread
  • binding thread
  • E6000 glue
(Due to supply shortages we send one spool of binding thread and one tube of glue per order, rather than one per kit. If you're giving the kits as gifts and need extra binding thread and glue, just let us know and we'll include it.)

Tools needed to assemble the project (not included)

  • foam kumihimo disk
  • 8 weighted bobbins (~23g each)
  • clip-on center weight (~45g)
  • scissors

The Opening Night bracelet balances symmetry and negative space in this dramatic, eye-catching design.  The braid is a straight forward counted pattern suitable for braiders of all-levels.  The bead stitching embellishment that joins the two braids has an easy-to-follow thread path making this a great first "embellished braid" project.

Following the detailed, step-by-step instructions in the kit, you'll step up your jewelry-making game by learning the fundamentals of braid embellishment:  how to anchor beading thread to the braid, how to sew two braids together, how to embellish the edge of the braid, and how to make custom peyote stitch endcap covers.

Opening Night is a kumihimo kit for beginners and all levels of braidersPrevious experience with the basic round braid (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is helpful, but not required.  If this is your very first beaded kumihimo project, please consult our Beaded Kumihimo Starter Guide before beginning.
