Type of kit:  necklace
Max length:  approximately 25"
Techniques:
  • beaded kumihimo around a core (intermediate)
  • multi-drop beaded kumihimo (intermediate)

The Rhapsody kit includes
  • 3mm Czech glass fire polished beads
  • size 11 Japanese seed beads
  • micro Superlon
  • 1.5mm satin Rattail
  • big-eye needle
  • TierraCast 6mm Temple endcaps
  • TierraCast Lotus magnetic clasps with jump rings
(Due to supply shortages we send one spool of binding thread and one tube of glue per order, rather than one per kit. If you're giving the kits as gifts and need extra binding thread and glue, just let us know and we'll include it.)

Tools needed to assemble the project (not included)

  • foam kumihimo disk
  • 8 weighted bobbins (~23g each)
  • clip-on center weight (~45g)
  • scissors
  • jewelry pliers

Rhapsody is a delightful skill-building project designed to take beginner-plus and intermediate braiders to the next level. You'll be amazed at how effortlessly your necklace fades from size 11 seed beads to a focal section of 3mm fire polished beads. TierraCast Temple endcaps paired with a Lotus magnetic clasp complete the look.

With the Rhapsody kit, you'll learn how to braid around a core and drop multiple beads in one move. Previous experience with the basic round braid (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is required. We recommend that you are familiar with the contents of our foundational documents, Beaded Kumihimo Starter Guide and Understanding the Braid, and that you have completed a couple beaded kumihimo projects before starting the Rhapsody necklace kit.
