Kumihimo is traditional Japanese braiding. The techniques go back to the time of the samurai. Traditionally done using a wooden braiding stand called a marudai, today you can make the same beautiful braids using a portable foam kumihimo disk.
Braiding with satin cord is a fantastic way to dip your toes in the water and get a feel for the kumihimo braiding moves. In the Satin Rope Super Beginner Kumihimo Starter Kit you'll learn how to set up the disk, the super simple braiding moves, and how to bind off your satin rope and glue on magnetic endcaps. The Satin Rope Super Beginner Kumihimo Starter Kit kit includes: detailed step-by-step written instructions, kumihimo disk, 8 plain (not weighted) kumihimo bobbins, 36 yards1.5mm nylon satin rattail (6 yards each of six colors), 3 sets of silver plated magnetic endcaps, binding thread, and E6000 glue. The kit makes three braids up to 24" long. Cut them to your desired length to make necklaces or bracelets.
