The Sweet Serenade necklace is a kumihimo kit for all levels. Previous experience with the basic round braid (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is helpful, but not required. If this is your very first beaded kumihimo project, please review our Beaded Kumihimo Starter Guide before beginning your necklace. In this kit you'll learn how to incorporate a front drilled pendant using a lark's head knot.
Techniques used: kumihimo and peyote stitch
The Sweet Serenade kit includes: printed instructions for both the necklace and the peyote stitch endcap covers, hand-made porcelain pendant (~3/4" x 1 1/2") by Indigo Turtle, big-eye needle, superlon micro, size 11 Japanese seed beads, 3mm Czech glass fire-polished beads, stainless steel magnetic endcaps, beading thread, size 11 Delicas. Because each pendant is hand-formed and hand-painted they will very slightly from the one shown here, but all pendants of a given colorway feature the same marbled color scheme and the same stamped image.
The Golden Dragonfly colorway features a pendant with marbled topaz & turquoise color scheme and a stamped dragonfly design. The fire-polished beads and seed beads are a coordinating mix of topaz and turquoise blue. The necklace is finished with 6mm stainless steel magnetic endcaps covered hidden under light lustered topaz peyote stitch endcap covers.
The Sweet Serenade kit makes one necklace up to 23″ long.
You’ll need the following tools (not included) to complete the project: foam kumihimo disk (regular 1/2″ thickness), 8 weighted bobbins (~23g each), clip-on center weight (~45g), and scissors.
