The Soirée Kumihimo Necklace Instructions is a downloadable PDF that includes fully illustrated written instructions and links to over 2 hours of step-by-step videos. Nothing will be shipped to you. If you want to print out the written instructions, you'll need to have a printer. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to open the PDF file. You will need internet access to play the videos.
Each step of the project is separate video to make it easy for you to follow along with whatever stage of the necklace you're currently working on.
This is not a kit. No materials are included.
Soirée should not be your first beaded kumihimo project. Soirée is a kumihimo necklace for competent braiders. No previous bead stitching or braid embellishing experience is required. Soirée is not difficult, but it does require working with very small beads and paying very close attention to details.
Previous experience with the basic round braid (kongoh gumi) on the foam disk is required. If it has been awhile since your last beaded kumihimo project (or if this is your first time with one of my projects), please review our Beaded Kumihimo Starter Guide and Understanding the Braid before beginning your necklace.
Complete necklace kits are available for the Soirée and we highly recommend that you buy one to ensure that you have exactly what you need to be successful.
If you choose to purchase the video class without a kit, please understand that we cannot provide technical support if you attempt to make material substitutions. You must use the exact size and types of beads/button/thread called for in the supply list.
The Soirée supply list does not include color names or numbers, so the "video class only" option is best for beaders comfortable making their own color selections and willing/able to search for their own materials.
The following materials are needed to make a Soirée necklace:
