Select your color from the dropdown menu. Clicking on the pictures doesn't change your color selection. If you don't see the color you're looking for, it's already sold out.
Aratashi Ribbon is a wide (about 16mm - 18mm) flat ribbon made of nylon. Hand-dyed colors don't have metallic accents.
All standard colors include metallic thread accents.
Braids up beautifully! So far we've tried it in kara yatsu (half-round braid) and kongoh gumi (round spiral braid). No special handling is required when braiding. It's going to get all bunched up and twisted when you pull it into the slots on the disk. Don't try to fight that. We like to use the Aratashi Ribbon in combination with satin rattail, but you can also use it as the exclusive fiber in a braid.
Please note that braiding with ribbon, rattail, and other larger materials can stretch out the slots in your kumihimo disk. We recommend using one of your older disks and labeling it "thick cords only."
The mill that makes these beautiful ribbons has unfortunately closed. We'll continue restocking as long as we're able.
Each package is one piece approximately six yards long wrapped on a piece of cardstock.
6mm endcaps if you use 4 warps of 2mm nylon rattail and 4 warps of Aratashi Ribbon in a half-round braid (kara yatsu) or round spiral (kongoh gumi). Bind tightly.
