Often times with kumihimo, you have to choose what will take center stage: the beads or the braid? In the Harmony necklace, they work together. The teardrop beads hang gracefully from the edge of the braid; their size and shape compliment the texture of the braid and enhance it. The smooth round satin cord provides structure, strength, and stability to the braid while the variegated adds delightfully shifting colors and metallic accents.
The Harmony necklace uses a half-round braid structure known as kara yatsu in Japanese.
For a limited time only, I'm offering a free video tutorial ($30 retail value!) with the purchase of a Harmony necklace kit.
You'll access the 24 minute video tutorial via a QR code printed on the kit instructions. It's a private YouTube video. You can watch it from the YouTube app on your phone or tablet or from any web browser.
The bonus video tutorial goes over all the steps from set-up through braiding, including some of the most common braiding errors, adding beads, unbraiding, binding, and gluing on endcaps. You can easily pause and rewind as needed!
With the written instructions plus the video tutorial it's like I'm right there braiding along with you!
You can learn the beautiful kara yatsu braid structure while making yourself a gorgeous Harmony necklace!
Kit Includes:
-
detailed written instructions
- 17", 18", 19" or 20" finished length options
- The Harmony necklace lays best close to your collar bones. If it's too long and not supported by your body, the braid will roll forward since it's flat on the back.
