Welcome! You are going to love kumihimo! It’s really fun to watch your braid appear magically below your disk. You’re going to be impressed the with beautiful, high-quality jewelry you can make in just a few hours. All the information you need to get started is here for you in this Kumihimo Beaded Rope Live Zoom Class. I’ll walk you step-by-step through your first project – from measuring and cutting cords, to setting up the disk, to learning the braiding moves, to transforming your beautiful beaded braid into a wonderful necklace you’ll be proud to wear. You’ll also learn troubleshooting so you know how to mix your mistakes as needed.

Arizona does not observe daylight savings, so if you're using a time zone converter be sure to select Arizona time and not just Mountain time.
Location: Any place you have good internet and good lighting.
Event type: Live online class via Zoom. You need to already know how to use Zoom and have the software installed on your device before coming to class.

Materials Included: No. You can work from your stash or purchase a Beaded Rope kit.
Supplies Needed:
- size 8/0 Japanese seed beads (Toho or Miyuki)
- TEX 210 nylon braiding string. This is also called Superlon or S-Lon size 18, C-Lon Bead Cord (CLC).
- 8mm magnetic endcaps (We sell these on our website if you need some.)
- Big-Eye needle
Tools needed:
- kumihimo disk standard thickness (I like the 4", but 6" works fine for this project.)
- 8 weighted bobbins
- 1 45g clip-on center weight
- scissors
- tape measure
- Binding thread. I like size D nymo thread, but One-G and KO are also good choices.
- E6000 glue
Homework Required: No.
Skill Level: Total beginner or returning to kumihimo after a long break. This class covers all the basics you need to start your kumihimo adventure!
Will the necklace be completed in class? No, but you'll learn everything you need to finish it on your own. If you make a bracelet length, you might finish in class.
What if I need to cancel? This event is non-refundable. Please check your schedule carefully before signing up.
Is there a replay available? No, this is a live event and the zoom class will not be recorded for student privacy; however, I have pre-recorded high resolution videos of how to finish the necklace (binding, cutting, & gluing on endcaps.) These videos will be available to students after class as private YouTube links.
