Braid Structure:  Edo Yatsu (basket weave)

Max Braid Length:  25"

Type of Kit:  Necklace or Wrap Bracelet

Have fun learning new skills: basket weave braid structure and stitching large-hole beaded beads!

To make the Triple Play, you'll start by making the braid. The smooth round satin cord provides structure, strength, and stability to the braid while the variegated ribbon adds delightfully shifting colors. The two materials play off each other in a classic over-under diagonal basket weave pattern.

The Basket Weave Braid is known as edo yatsu in Japanese.  Edo yatsu is a sequence of four clockwise moves followed by four counter-clockwise move (and a reposition) that creates a braid with diagonal interlacements. Can you picture a May Pole dance? With the over under pattern of the ribbons? That's this braid! Once you get the rhythm, it's pretty zen.

The beaded beads are stitched together using a variation of netting. As always, your kit will come with detailed written instructions with step-by-step photos and diagrams.

The Triple Play is extra versatile because it can also be worn as a necklace!
